After years spent as an accountant, photography studio manager, and wastewater treatment pipe saleswoman, Lori Handeland sold her first book in 1993. Since then she has written for Dorchester Publishing, Kensington Publishing, Harlequin Superromance, St. Martin's Press, Avon Books, and Pocket Books. Her novels have spanned the contemporary, historical and paranormal genres.

Lori is a USA Today® bestselling author and the recipient of many industry awards, most recently—and for the second time—the prestigious Romance Writers' of America RITA® Award (Best Long Contemporary) for THE MOMMY QUEST, presented at the July 2007 RWA National Conference in Dallas, Texas. Lori is pictured (top of page) with her husband, after receiving the 2005 RITA® (Best Paranormal Romance) for her novel BLUE MOON at the Conference in Reno, Nevada.

She lives in Southern Wisconsin with her husband —a contractor— two sons, and a yellow lab named Elwood.
